What IS Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Soda?
Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Sodas are most simply described as delicious naturally flavored beverages that are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. We started with great tasting soda, left out the bad stuff and put in some extra good stuff. Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Sodas contain NO high fructose corn syrup, NO caffeine, NO preservatives and NO artificial flavors. So why did this take a hundred years?
What’s in Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Soda?
Our beverages are made from sparkling clear purified water, a touch of natural cane sugar for the perfect sweetness, natural flavors, natural colors and a pinch of vitamins and antioxidants.
Why is Snow referred to as "Naturally Flavored" as opposed to just natural?
The vitamins in Snow are "synthetically derived", just as they are in a daily multi-vitamin. Due to this fact, we cannot apply the term "natural" to the entire beverage. However, everything else that goes into Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Soda IS natural.
What is bisulfate of soda?
Bisulfate of soda is an ingredient in our Pure Cola flavor. Sometimes known as sodium acid sulfate, Bisulfate of Soda is a sodium-based acid used to lower pH in some food and beverages. A small bit of acid is used in many sodas to give the beverage that "tartness" or "bite" that many people find appealing in a cola. Phosphoric acid, most commonly used in cola, has been anecdotally connected with potentially creating problems with calcium absorption in the body. Therefore, we chose to leave phosphoric acid out of our beverages.
Bisulfate of Soda has GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) status with the FDA and is considered not to pose any health risks. According to the manufacturer, the Bisulfate of Soda used in Snow's Pure Cola is present in nature and is derived for our use from inorganic minerals and no covalent bonds are broken or changed during manufacturing. No artificial/synthetic ingredients are used in the manufacturing. It is free of petrochemicals, GMO's, as well as exposure to radiation. For these reasons, the Senior Director of Food Labeling and Standards at the Grocery Manufacturers Assn (GMA) has stated, "I don't see any issues that might impede FDA's view of the ingredient as natural.”
Is it healthy to consume vitamins that don't come directly from whole foods?
Sure. We believe the best way to obtain the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients one needs is by eating a balanced diet of healthy foods. However, since most of us don’t consume ALL of the essential vitamins and minerals necessary, we think the "second-best" alternative is to take vitamin supplements or use foods and beverages that are fortified (like Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Soda).
What flavors does Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Soda come in?
We started with the flavors you love including Pure Cola and Lemon Lime. In addition, we created Cranberry PomRaz, a delicious blend of cranberry, pomegranate and raspberry.
How many calories are in Snow Naturally Flavored Vitamin Soda?
Our beverages contain fewer calories than most leading non-diet soft drinks. However, Snow does have calories as it is naturally sweetened. A choice must be made between zero-calories sweetened drinks that use artificial sweeteners and using natural cane sugar. At Snow Beverages, we believe that "natural" is preferable. Most flavors of Snow have 75 to 80 calories in an eight-ounce serving. That is still substantially less than traditional sodas and juices and less than most natural-sweetened-soft drinks. We'd rather consume a few calories than the chemicals necessary to make an artificially sweet, no-calorie drink.
